For Nadira Persaud and Keith McAdam, love arrived when they least expected it. Both 32, the couple met in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic through Tinder, a dating app neither initially believed would lead to something lasting. Nadira had joined after encouragement from her sister and was on the app for less than 24 hours. Keith, meanwhile, had logged in one final time with the intention of deleting his account. One last look changed everything.

“Some people say timing is everything, and for us, timing truly changed our lives,” the couple shared.

Keith’s determination became another defining part of their love story. He attempted to propose 37 times across Fort Lauderdale, Miami, West Palm Beach, and Orlando, but circumstances repeatedly got in the way. On June 19, 2023, during their first cruise to Alaska, the 38th attempt finally succeeded, or almost did. As Nadira admired the breathtaking scenery and eagles from their balcony, Keith knelt behind her. When she finally turned around, she skipped the formalities and ran straight into his arms, tackling him before he could even ask the question.

Their wedding took place on November 15, 2025, at Arya Samaj of Fort Lauderdale, followed by a reception at Level Three in Aventura, Florida, with approximately 200 guests. With the help of their event planner, Nadira and Keith were able to focus on enjoying their celebration rather than worrying about logistics. Their venue was selected based on practical needs, including the flexibility to bring in outside vendors, ample parking, strong staff support, and security.

The celebrations began with an intimate Mehendi at their home. Nadira personally envisioned the décor, transforming the space with embroidered floral runners, hand-painted temple banners, cascading white and red roses, and delicate butterflies symbolizing growth and new beginnings. The following day’s Haldi combined cherished traditions with playful fun, featuring sunflowers, colorful confetti, Holi powder, bubble machines, kiddie pools, water balloons, and a giant inflatable slide. Guyanese favorites such as Cream Soda and Carnation Milk added another meaningful touch.

 

The reception brought their cinematic vision to life with a sophisticated black, white, and gold palette. Orchids, roses, candles, chandeliers, natural light, and uplighting created a romantic atmosphere. Every element, from the bouquets and altar to the layout and dance floor, was uniquely designed by the couple.

Their music reflected their multicultural love story. The Baarat featured Keith arriving in a bright orange Corvette to energetic Bollywood and Chutney music. Throughout the celebration, Bollywood blended with Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, and Chutney, keeping the dance floor alive. Their first dance was to “Ve Kamelya” by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal, while Nadira shared special dances with her mother to “Tu Kitni Achhi Hai” by Lata Mangeshkar and with her mother-in-law to “Oh Mummy Mummy” by Udit Narayan.

Their most unforgettable “wow” moment came when they finally saw the completed reception hall. After months of planning and designing, their vision had become reality.

Looking back, even the unexpected moments have become cherished memories. From 37 failed proposals to last-minute wedding surprises, their story has never been perfectly scripted, and that is precisely what makes it beautiful.

What began with a FaceTime call during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic blossomed into a vibrant love story that brought together Gujarati and Tamil-Brahmin traditions in the heart of Downtown Orlando.

Komal Naileesh Patel, 29, a baker, and Vishnu Lakshman Sriram, 30, a musician and software developer, exchanged vows on October 26, 2025, at The Balcony Orlando. Surrounded by approximately 200 guests, the couple celebrated their love with a wedding that was deeply personal, community-focused, sustainable, and full of unexpected moments.

Their story began on October 15, 2020, when they connected during the pandemic. Komal remembers their first FaceTime conversation fondly, even though it was far from a traditionally glamorous first impression.

“I FaceTimed him with acne cream on and we had a really nice back-and-forth conversation,” Komal recalled. “There was even a joke about him being a bohemian fugitive.”

The very next day, they met in person and spent the day exploring a music and record store before enjoying Thai food together. Vishnu later made Komal breakfast and chai, setting the tone for a relationship built around simple moments, shared interests, and plenty of laughter. After dating for approximately two years, they got engaged and remained engaged for nearly three years before their wedding. The couple has also been living together since 2023.

Vishnu planned a romantic proposal in December at Greenacre Park in New York City, near the Museum of Modern Art. Despite the freezing temperatures, the day was filled with warmth and excitement. They began with coffee and pastries at REMI Flower Cafe before heading to the unexpected oasis of Greenacre Park.

“I was able to surprise her with the majestic waterfall splashing life into the city,” Vishnu shared. “Then I read her a poem titled ‘My Gujarati Goddess.’ She said yes, and joy poured out of us.”

The couple chose The Balcony in Downtown Orlando because of their love for city life and their personal connection to the area. Both were living in Downtown Orlando at the time, while Komal grew up in nearby Apopka and Vishnu was raised in the Florida Panhandle before his family later moved to Orlando.

“We really recommend a local wedding if you can swing it and find a venue you love,” the couple said. “You gain so much value from showcasing local vendors and feel much more involved in your community.”

Their wedding day featured a beautiful blend of traditions and personalities. Guests enjoyed a cafecito cart, ceremony snacks, candies, and nuts at each chair. Rain unexpectedly arrived during the pheras, but The Balcony’s team smoothly transitioned the ceremony indoors. In one of the wedding’s most memorable moments, Komal and Vishnu completed their Vidaai from the 11th-floor elevator atrium and departed in the elevator.

The couple also combined their Gujarati and Tamil-Brahmin heritage through ceremonies such as Kashi Yatra and Oonjal. Elders placed the varmala on the couple, symbolizing the joining of their families, while Komal and Vishnu exchanged personal vows after the Satapadi.

The reception was equally unconventional. Instead of following a traditional entrance-and-dinner schedule, guests ate and danced before speeches and special performances began. DJ Pav created an energetic mix of Hindi, Tamil, throwback, and American music that brought together guests of different generations.

One of the biggest surprises came when Komal’s sister, cousins, and best friend performed a dance for the couple. Vishnu, meanwhile, surprised guests with his own musical performance.

“Everybody danced and had so much fun,” the couple said. “Neither of us knew about the surprise dance, and Vishnu’s performance made the night even more special.”

Sustainability and creativity were also central to the celebration. Komal and Vishnu incorporated composting and recycling and worked with local vendors, including people they had personally known for years. Lego sunflowers decorated the centerpieces, while the couple designed their own seating charts and wedding materials using Canva. They also created a collage honoring loved ones who had passed away.

“Go with your gut instinct for vendors within your budget,” they advised. “If you have a wonderful family connection or a beloved venue in town, go with that option.”

Despite rain, timing challenges, wedding jitters, and a few unpredictable family moments, Komal and Vishnu’s wedding became exactly what they hoped it would be—a joyful reflection of their relationship, their community, and the many traditions and people who helped shape their journey together.

For Nikita Maniar and Pranav Bhakta, love began with a simple change of location on a dating app and quickly turned into a story filled with unexpected surprises, family, friendship, and plenty of Bollywood flair. Nikita, a neurologist from South Florida, had grown tired of the dating scene in Chicago and decided to change her dating app location to Dallas, where she had friends. At the same time, Pranav, a pharmacist in the pharmaceutical industry from Los Angeles, happened to be in Dallas for a pharmaceutical conference. His cousin convinced him to change his location to Dallas too. Nikita saw his profile, swiped right, and the rest was history. After dating for a year, the couple began planning their wedding.

Pranav’s proposal was every bit as personal as their relationship. Knowing Nikita was difficult to surprise, he enlisted the help of her closest friends and planned a proposal at North Avenue Beach in Chicago. Nikita arrived to find Pranav waiting beside a picnic blanket covered with Taco Bell favorites, a picnic basket, and an easel asking her to marry him, decorated with hot sauce packets. The couple tied the knot over a three-day celebration from May 8 to 10, 2026, at Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida, surrounded by approximately 350 guests. They chose Orlando as a destination that would bring together Nikita’s South Florida family and Pranav’s California family and friends. The location also gave their guests the opportunity to enjoy Walt Disney World after the wedding.

“Have fun with it,” the couple advised other couples planning their weddings. “Planning can get stressful, so delegate what you can to close family members that you trust.”

Their pre-wedding Haldi celebrations took place at the hotel. Nikita’s event featured yellow hibiscus and marigold flowers arranged in an arch against a green flower wall, along with a life-size Ganesh painting created by family friends. Pranav opted for a simpler backdrop with colorful draping and white accents.

The indoor wedding ceremony began around 11 a.m. and featured an elegant peach and ivory mandap decorated with circular floral arrangements. A candle-lined white walkway led to the mandap, framed by large pedestals adorned with hanging crystal beads. The baraat was energetic and colorful, blending hip-hop and Bollywood music. Pranav and his groomsmen surprised Nikita and her bridesmaids with a dance to “Pretty Woman” from Kal Ho Na Ho, prompting the bridesmaids to respond with “Sajna Tere Liye Sajna Ye Chudi Kangana.” Pranav made another memorable entrance in a white Lamborghini convertible.

Their reception entrance was full of energy, with the bridal party carrying signs reading “Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Bhakta” and “Forever Looks Good on Them.” Their first dance was a Bollywood medley incorporated into a skit that reenacted their meeting, relationship, proposal, and journey to marriage.

One of the biggest surprises came when Pranav and his groomsmen performed a Backstreet Boys song, Nikita’s favorite band, after learning the routine just two days before the reception.

“The little things that go wrong do not matter as long as your guests had a good time,” Nikita and Pranav reflected.

The couple also added personal touches throughout the celebration. Nikita designed customized signs for the photo booth, guest book, dessert table, and drink menu. She also created a Filmfare-inspired magazine photo booth and a personalized newspaper-style wedding pamphlet featuring an illustration of the couple and details about the Hindu ceremony. Guests received beach-themed bottle openers and magnets featuring the couple’s names and wedding date.

Their favorite “wow” moments included the first look with the bridal party, Nikita’s entrance beneath a flower chaadar, and Pranav’s grand Lamborghini arrival.

Even the unexpected challenges became part of the story. Their original baraat car vendor canceled after the vehicle was involved in an accident, forcing the couple to arrange a new Lamborghini just three days before the wedding. When reception signs failed to arrive on time, a family member quickly had them printed at a local FedEx.

In the end, every detail came together to create a celebration that was unmistakably theirs, filled with romance, laughter, Bollywood energy, family, and unforgettable surprises.

Siena Vadakal, a pediatrician, and Anjay Shah, an ophthalmologist, began their love story in the most fitting place for two future doctors: medical school. The couple first met during orientation at the University of Florida, standing next to each other in line for photographs. The couple spent the next four years dating throughout medical school, supporting each other through the challenges and milestones of their demanding education. Eventually, as they considered where they would complete their residencies, they realized that their futures were already intertwined.

Their engagement story was equally memorable. After Anjay hinted that he was thinking about proposing, Siena jokingly told him that he would first need her father’s approval. During a weekend visit to Siena’s family home, Anjay asked her parents for their blessing early one Saturday morning. They immediately said yes. The festivities began with an intimate Mehndi Night at Siena’s home, followed by a cheerful Haldi decorated in orange, yellow, white, and marigold flowers. The Sangeet became a vibrant celebration of both backgrounds, featuring colorful linens, South Indian-inspired elements, banana leaves, uruli dishes filled with floating flowers, Garba, Sangeet performances, Mehndi stations, and the Malayali tradition of Madharam Veppa. Cuban food also gave guests a taste of Miami.

The wedding itself featured both a Hindu and Catholic ceremony. The Hindu ceremony was held indoors in the morning with light floral arrangements and gold accents, while the Catholic ceremony took place at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Siena’s home church since childhood.

Anjay’s Florida roots made his Baraat entrance particularly memorable. He arrived in a bright orange Jeep, waving a giant Florida Gator flag, accompanied by upbeat Bollywood hits and Western favorites.

The reception transformed the ballroom into an elegant night under the stars, with starry draping, blush pink and white flowers, and gold Chiavari chairs. Entrances began with the couple’s parents, followed by cousins and the bridal party before Siena and Anjay made their grand entrance.

One of the evening’s most touching moments came through a video prepared by Anjay’s father, Prerak. The video featured separate interviews with Siena and Anjay answering questions about each other and their relationship. Hearing their answers for the first time brought laughter, surprises, and heartfelt emotions.

The couple also added deeply personal touches to their celebration. Knowing they might not get enough one-on-one time with every guest, they wrote personal letters to each guest or family, sharing their gratitude and favorite memories. “Seeing their reactions—the laughter, tears, and appreciation—filled our hearts,” they recalled.

The couple’s story began in 2020 at an American Medical Student Association meeting at the University of Florida. Brianna attended the meeting with a mutual friend, who noticed Rushi sitting in another row and invited him to join them. The Mehndi was held at the couple’s home in Orlando and featured colorful backdrops, marigolds, hanging decorations, and fresh flowers arranged in gold vases. The Haldi and Garba took place at the Rosen JCC Orlando. The outdoor Haldi ceremony featured gold seating, floral décor in bright colors, and guests dressed in yellow and other vibrant shades. The Garba celebration embraced blue, hot pink, and gold tones, with colorful tablecloths, lanterns, manzanita tree centerpieces, and a stage featuring a traditional gold swing placed on a pink Moroccan rug surrounded by flowers and candles.

For the wedding ceremony, the couple envisioned a light and airy atmosphere with gold accents, greenery, and peach florals. Held indoors at 2 p.m., the mandap featured peach drapery, hanging green and white wisteria, and a wooden frame of Lord Ganesh centered against the backdrop. Guests were provided with custom-made Wedding Guides explaining each step of the ceremony, along with tissues and Indian sweets placed on every chair. The Baarat music reflected the couple’s diverse tastes, combining Bollywood, hip hop, R&B, and Hispanic music, while the ceremony itself featured more traditional Indian songs.

Rushi made a memorable entrance to the ceremony in a modern electric carriage, dancing throughout the Baarat with friends and family. Since the ceremony and reception were held in different ballrooms within the same venue, no travel was necessary between events. After the ceremony, the newlyweds departed in a red Ferrari.

Music throughout the evening included Bollywood, hip hop, R&B, Chutney/Soca, and Hispanic genres. The couple’s first dance was a choreographed medley featuring “Kesariya” by Arijit Singh, “White Brown Black” by Avvy Sra, Jaani, and Karan Aujla, and “The Wedding Party” by Ravi B. The couple’s journey began in 2021 when they were first introduced through a mutual family friend. At that time, neither of them pursued anything further due to timing and life circumstances. The Vidhi and Haldi ceremonies were vibrant and traditional with marigold décor, colorful backdrops, lanterns, and interactive guest activities including a canvas reveal. The Sangeet transformed the barn into a Moroccan-inspired space with jewel tones, hanging lanterns, velvet textures, and dramatic lighting that created an immersive celebration.

The wedding ceremony was held outdoors in the evening at 7 PM with the Nashville skyline as a backdrop. Music played an important role throughout the celebration. The Baraat featured a live dhol team that created an energetic atmosphere as guests danced from the waterfront to the ceremony space. The groom arrived by boat with his groomsmen, adding a unique and lively start to the day. The ceremony included live singers and musicians performing traditional songs, enhancing the emotional atmosphere.

The reception embraced a modern luxury theme with a black, white, and gold color palette. The ballroom featured mirrored accents, candles, acrylic seating, and white floral arrangements including roses, hydrangeas, and lisianthus. Instead of a traditional stage setup, the DJ booth and LED screens became the focal point, creating an immersive party atmosphere. The bridal party entrance included custom props, LED lights, and oversized photo cutouts that energized the room.
